Security & Sovereignty

Trust through jurisdiction, not marketing promises

HuneX owns and runs its own data center on Danish soil. No foreign parent company, no CLOUD Act exposure, no data leaving Danish and EU jurisdiction - by design, not by exception.

The problem

Jurisdiction is the question that actually matters

Low prices and fast onboarding are easy to find. A guarantee about who can be legally compelled to hand over your data is not.

The US CLOUD Act lets American authorities compel US-owned providers to hand over data - even when that data physically sits in an EU data center. Ownership, not server location, decides who can be forced to comply.

That distinction matters most in finance, healthcare, defense, and public sector — industries where boards and compliance teams are increasingly steering AI workloads away from US-owned clouds entirely, regardless of where the servers are.

Meanwhile, the pressure to act is rising: the EU AI Act's Article 50 transparency and documentation obligations are fully enforced from 2 August 2026, pushing every EU business running AI workloads to be able to show exactly where and how those workloads run.

<5% of the world's AI compute capacity sits in Europe today.
70%+ of the EU cloud market is held by US hyperscalers.
1 law — the CLOUD Act — is enough to reach EU-hosted data, if the provider is US-owned.

How HuneX is built

Sovereignty by construction, not a compliance add-on

Every part of this is a structural fact about how HuneX is owned and operated — not a policy that could quietly change.

Danish ownership

HuneX is Danish-owned and Danish-operated. There is no foreign parent company that a foreign authority could compel.

No CLOUD Act exposure

The CLOUD Act only applies to US-owned providers. Because HuneX isn't one, it doesn't reach your data — wherever you are.

Full data residency

Your data and workloads run exclusively in our own data center, on Danish soil, and stay there — not just "in the EU region."

GDPR-first design

Data handling, access control, and processing agreements are built around GDPR from day one — not retrofitted later.

EU AI Act readiness

We track Article 50's transparency obligations so you can document exactly where and how your AI workloads run.

Clear responsibility split

We own the hardware, power, cooling, and uptime. You keep full control of your own software, orchestration, and data.

Where HuneX sits

Ownership, not server location, decides who can reach your data

A category-level view of the GPU hosting market — from US hyperscalers to discount marketplaces to EU-owned providers like HuneX.

Category Ownership & jurisdiction CLOUD Act exposure Data residency guarantee Egress fees
US hyperscalers US-owned, EU region available Applies regardless of server location Regional, not ownership-based Often high
Global marketplaces Aggregated, mixed jurisdictions Varies by host Not guaranteed Varies
EU-owned neoclouds EU-owned, EU-operated Not applicable EU-based Usually low or none
HuneX Danish-owned, Danish-operated Not applicable Danish data center, always None

The terms, plainly

What these words actually mean for your workloads

CLOUD Act

A US law letting American authorities compel US-owned providers to hand over data, even when it sits in an EU data center.

GDPR

The EU's core data-protection law. Any provider handling EU personal data must comply, regardless of where the data is stored.

EU AI Act - Article 50

Transparency and documentation obligations for AI systems, fully enforced from 2 August 2026.

Data sovereignty

Keeping data and workloads under the legal jurisdiction of a specific country or region - a question of law, not just geography.

Data residency

The physical location where data is stored. Necessary, but not sufficient - ownership still decides who can be compelled to access it.

Data Processing Agreement (DPA)

A contract defining how a provider processes personal data on a customer's behalf, as required under GDPR.

Questions

Security & sovereignty, answered directly

No. The CLOUD Act only compels US-owned companies to hand over data, regardless of where their servers sit. HuneX is Danish-owned and Danish-operated, so the CLOUD Act has no jurisdiction over HuneX or the workloads we host.
In our own data center on Danish soil. We own the hardware, power, cooling, and networking, so your data and workloads never leave Danish and EU jurisdiction.
GDPR is built into HuneX from day one, not added afterward. We can provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) covering how customer data is handled, stored, and processed.
We track the EU AI Act's obligations, including the Article 50 transparency requirements fully enforced from 2 August 2026, and help customers document where and how their AI workloads run.
Not yet. Certification is on our roadmap as we scale. Today, our security foundation rests on Danish ownership, GDPR-first design, and full data residency in our own Danish data center.
